NELFUND cautions students about fraudulent internet loan portals.
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has urged students to be aware of a phony portal with false messages currently circulating online.
This is stated in a statement in Abuja on Monday by the fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi.
Oluwatuyi said that the internet messages' content was deceptive.
"NELFUND has been aware of a fake statement floating around the internet that purports that President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reopening of the NELFUND Student Loan portal."
“The portal is with a link to a fake website: https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/
“We wish to categorically state that this website is FAKE, and the information contained in the message is false and misleading.
“The only official portal for the NELFUND Student Loan Application is: https://nelf.gov.ng, ” she said.
She advised everyone to stay away from clicking on unconfirmed links and to never provide personal or financial information on dubious websites, particularly students, parents, and guardians.
She promised that the NELFUND will always make announcements through its verified outlets and reaffirmed its dedication to openness, security, and equity in the loan application process.
However, she urged students to contact the Fund at info@nelf.gov.ng to report any questionable emails or websites.
Additionally, Oluwatuyi suggested that students get in touch via its official social media accounts: Facebook & LinkedIn: Nigerian Education Loan Fund - NELFUND, Instagram: @nelfund, and "X" (previously Twitter): @nelfund.
