Iran executes a man found guilty of spying for Israel.
As hostilities between Iran and Israel entered their eleventh day, Iran's judiciary declared on Monday that it had hanged a man convicted of spying for Israel.
The judiciary used Iran's word for Israel to state that "Mohammad-Amin Mahdavi Shayesteh was executed this morning for intelligence cooperation with the Zionist dictatorship."
It was claimed that Shayesteh was connected to Israel's foreign intelligence organization, Mossad.
Additionally, he was found guilty of working with Iran International, a London-based Persian-language television network that criticizes the Iranian regime.
Iran believes that the channel has ties to Israel.
Iranian authorities labeled the channel a "terrorist organization" during the 2022 countrywide protests that were triggered by Mahsa Amini's murder while in jail.
Amini, a young Kurdish Iranian woman, was detained on suspicion of disobeying the Islamic Republic's stringent clothing code for women.
Iran regularly declares that those it accuses of collaborating with foreign intelligence services, especially its bitter enemy Israel, have been arrested or executed.
Authorities promised to expedite these cases on Sunday. Majid Mosayebi, who was also found guilty of being a Mossad agent, was put to death by the judiciary that same day.
Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of the judiciary, told state television that security-related matters would be resolved more quickly, particularly those that involve support for the usurping regime (Israel) and serving as a fifth column of the enemy.
Human rights organizations like Amnesty International claim that Iran is the second-most frequent executioner in the world, after China.
