Ex-Chelsea midfielder Oscar discharged from hospital after heart scare

Former Chelsea and Brazil midfielder Oscar has been discharged from the hospital after being admitted last week due to a heart-related issue.

The 34-year-old experienced health complications while participating in pre-season physical assessments at São Paulo’s training facility on Tuesday, which necessitated prompt medical intervention.

As reported by BBC Sports on Monday, Sao Paulo issued a statement indicating that Oscar was released from Einstein Hospital Israelita on Sunday and remained "stable and clinically well" throughout his hospitalization.

"A thorough investigation conducted at the hospital confirmed that the player experienced an episode of vasovagal syncope," the statement continued.

Vasovagal syncope is a prevalent form of fainting triggered by a sudden decrease in blood pressure and heart rate.

The club announced that Oscar "will now adhere to a medical rest program for the upcoming days."

Oscar commenced his career with Sao Paulo and made a return to the club last year on a three-year contract that extends until 2027, following an eight-year tenure in China.

Oscar was in stable condition while hospitalized after experiencing a heart-related concern.
