Oluremi Tinubu urges women to teach girls modesty, decent dressing
Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has urged women to promote modest attire among young girls while also providing mentorship to those from underprivileged backgrounds.
During an interfaith gathering in Abuja, a video clip of which gained popularity on Friday, the First Lady called on women to purposefully guide young girls and instill strong moral values in them.
She encouraged women to take on the responsibility of mentoring at least one girl from a disadvantaged background.
She stated, ‘I challenge you to have a mentee with you, not someone you’ve been mentoring consistently, but simply invest in the life of a young girl from a less fortunate background.
As per her remarks, mentorship can take various forms, such as offering scholarships, providing encouragement, and giving moral support.
You know, assist them, even if it means providing a scholarship, encouraging them, and imparting good values. Teach them virtuous behavior.
“Teach them how to be respectable women, instruct them on proper dressing, as we observe that our youth have really embraced different styles. I do not engage with social media, so it does not concern me.
The First Lady also highlighted the importance of modesty in attire, asserting that true beauty should not be associated with revealing clothing.
She additionally remarked that men should also practice self-control, emphasizing that God would assist them in “crucifying their eyes.”
“Teach them how to dress modestly, and understand that nudity does not equate to beauty. We may not comprehend their motivations, but true beauty emanates from within, and our men, God will also aid them and enlighten their perspectives.
