NUC grants full accreditation to 18 programmes in EKSU

The VC expressed gratitude to Biodun Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti State and a visitor to the institution; Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, the chancellor; and Prof. Akin Oyebode, the pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council, for their significant contributions and interest in expanding the university internationally.18 academic programs at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, have been accorded full accreditation status by the National Universities Commission, which the university has called a significant step forward in its academic development.

This came after the NUC's October and November 2024 accreditation process.

The approval was conveyed in a letter dated April 30, 2025, signed by Abraham Chundusu, the Acting Director of Accreditation at the NUC, on behalf of the Commission's Executive Secretary, according to a statement issued Monday by Bode Olofinmuagun, Head of EKSU's Directorate of Information.

"The development further solidifies EKSU's increasing standing as Nigeria's top state university, as determined by the Times Higher Education 2025 universities rating," he said.

Administration, Master of Science in Business Administration, Master of Personnel Management, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Public Administration, Master of Business Administration, Art, Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies, and Philosophy were among the newly recognized programs, according to the letter.

Additional fields include education in building and woodworking technology, education in electrical and electronic technology, education in metal and auto mechanics, education in Christian religious studies, civil engineering, computer engineering, law, geology, and psychology.

The university is always better positioned to meet the educational needs of Nigerian youth in cutting-edge and relevant fields of study, according to EKSU Vice Chancellor Prof. Babatola Ayodele, who described the accreditation as "a dream come true and a product of tireless efforts by the academic and administrative staff of the University."
